So. Our oldest dog, Seamus (a 7yr old welsh corgi who I have had since May 2003) has developed a skin rash, and has partly lost his voice. He actually had this around 2 months ago, too. The vet had said that it could possibly be a food allergy, gave us antibiotics and told us to call if it got worse. It got better, until this week it reappeared. It's around his genital area and its not too pretty. Last night he also started gnawing on one of his back feet (which now has a big boo-boo on it and no fur). Doug took him to the vet this morning (and of course, out of 3 the only one there today is the one we don't like) and she said the first thing we had to do was rule out a food allergy (which I thought we did). She also said that he losing his voice was from him barking too much (?? Uhh, no?) and didn't tell Doug anything to do about it. She did tell him we're supposed to give him more antibiotics and gave us antibiotic shampoo (which I read online can soothe for a few minutes, but then cause irritations) and to feed him a bland, new diet for 3 months - which is not going to be fun in our house. |
Has anyone else gone down this road before? I'm thinking the second vet just doesn't like Seamus (which she saw him before and basically said he was a horrible dog). I'm planning on calling the vet tomorrow and hoping one of the other 2 are there, and willing to talk. Help!
